The History

In 1880 – Jan Mateusz Sambor and Marcin Krawczyk have established a metal manufacture, which began production of elements of transmission equipment, cumulative power drives, used in cotton spinning mills and weaving plants, as well as production of industrial over- head shaftings.

In 1910 – The factory has been the exclusive ownership of the Krawczyks family and has adopted the name:”Fabryka Pędni, Maszyn i Odlewnia Żeliwa Krawczyk i S-ka”(Factory of overhead shaftings, machines and iron foundry Krawczyk & Co.” in Zawiercie. In 1919 – the factory has been taken over by ingenieur Banachiewicz, who has changed the name of the factory into „Wytwórnia Maszyn w Zawierciu inż.I.Banachiewicz i S-ka” (machine factory in Zawiercie ing.I.Banachiewicz & Co.)

In 1946 – the nationalized factory began to produce seeders, cutters, bullock gears, broad treshers, mining machinery, mine cars, toothed gears, flotation equipment apparatus, large-size iron castings for chemical industry.

Since 01.01.1951 - the factory has adopted the name: Fabryka Maszyn „Zawiercie” („Zawiercie” machine factory). In the 50-tieth and 60-tieth years, between the others, the following machinery, were produced: free-fall concrete mixers, hammers and pile-drivers, as well as machinery for the ceramic industry, i.e. Plate feeders, screen rubbing machines, zet-mixers, crushers.

In the years 1971-1975 a modernization of the factory has been carried out and the manufa-cture of toothed ring bearings for excavators and mobile cranes was begun.

Since 01.10.1973 – the factory has been incorporated into the „BUMAR-ŁABĘDY” indu- strial complex and has functioned as a plant under the following names: - since 01.01.1975 to 31.12.1977: Kombinat Urzadzeń Mechanicznych „BUMAR-ŁABĘDY” Fabryka Maszyn Zawiercie w Zawierciu („BUMAR-ŁABĘDY”Machinery Complex in Zawiercie); - since 01.01.1978 Kombinat Urządzeń Mechanicznych „BUMAR-ŁABĘDY”, Zakład Ma-szyn Budowlanych w Zawierciu ( „BUMAR-ŁABĘDY” Machinery Complex, Construction Equipment Factory in Zawiercie).

The plant has developped production and is specialized in manufacture of chassis frames for cranes and has acquired extensive authorizations and capabilities in manufacturing equipment being subject to supervision and different kind of welded steel constructions. In the years 1978-1979 in place of the liquidated iron foundry, a new Precision Steel Casting Plant has been started.

Since 01.07.1993 – as a result of transformation of the „BUMAR-ŁABĘDY” Machinery Complex into a sole shareholder company of the State Treasury under the name Zakłady Mechaniczne „BUMAR-ŁABĘDY ” S.A.- Zakład Maszyn Budowlanych (Construction Machines Factory) has functioned as a plant under the name : Zawierciańska Fabryka Maszyn „ZAFAMA” Spółka z o.o. (company limited) with its seat in Zawiercie.

In November 1994 the factory acquired the Certificate of the RW TÜV in Essen, refering to the EN 29002 Quality System.

On 16.01.1995 – the Company was registered under the name: Zawierciańska FABRYKA MASZYN „ZAFAMA” Spółka z o.o. Zawiercie ul.Paderewskiego 32. The sole shareholder are Zakłady Mechaniczne „BUMAR-ŁABEDY” S.A.with its seat in Gliwice.

The Production of the Company is based on three ground production plants: large-size toothed bearing plant, welding and mounting plant, precision foundry plant.

In the years 2000-2009 the company goes through a restructuring process, in the result of which, the precision foundry plant has been liquidated and the main atten- tion has been focused onto the production of large-size rolling bearings. Actually, the production of our company is taking place in the mechanical & constructional plant.

In the year 2009, after a certification quality audit, the company acquired the Certificate of Quality System Management, acc.to the EN ISO 9001:2008 Standard, confered by TUV NORD
