ABOUT THE COMPANY

 

A brief history of the company.

In 1880 Jan Mateusz Samobor and Marcin Kowalczyk set up a metal manufactory which started producing power transmission elements for spinning mills and weaving mills as well as overhead shafts. In 1910 Krawczyk family became the sole owner of the company and named it Fabryka Pędni, Maszyn i Odlewnia Żeliwa Krawczyk i S-ka.w Zawierciu. In 1919 the factory was taken over by Ignacy Banachiewicz who changed its name to Wytwórnia Maszyn w Zawierciu inż. I. Banachiewicz i S-ka.

In 1946 the nationalised company started producing sowers, cutters, horse gears, threshing machines, machines for the mining indutry, mine trolleys and large-sized iron castings for chemical industry.  

On January 1st 1951 the comapany changed its name to Fabryka Maszyn Zawiercie. In 1950s and 1960s it made among others free-fall concrete mixers, hammers, pile drivers and macjines for ceramic industry such as double arm mixers, loaders, cutters and crushers.

In the years from 1971 to 1975 the factory was modernised and started the production of slewing rings for excavators and wheeled cranes.

On October 1st 1973  the factory was incorporated into Kombinat Urządzeń Mechanicznych UMAR-ŁABĘDY and operated under the following names:

  • from January 1st 1975 to December 31st 1977 - Kombinat Urządzeń Mechanicznych BUMAR-ŁABĘDY Fabryka Maszyn Zawiercie w Zawierciu
  • from January 1st 1978 Kombinat Urządzeń Mechanicznych BUMAR-ŁABĘDY Zakład Maszyn Budowlanych w Zawierciu.

 

The plant developed the production and specialised in making chassis frames for cranes and acquired qualifications to  manufacture all types of steel welded constructions. In the years from 1978 to1979 the iron foundry was replaced with the steel foundry.

From July 1st 1993, as a result of the transformation of Kombinat Urządzeń Mechnicznych BUMAR-ŁABĘDY into a single member state-owned company with a name  Zakłady Mechaniczne BUMAR-ŁABĘDY S.A, Zakład Maszyn Budowlanych operated as a branch under the name Zawierciańska Fabryka Maszyn ZAFAMA Spółka z o.o. z siedzibą w Zawierciu.

In November 1994 the company received a Quality System Certificate EN 29002 from RWTÜV in Essen.

On January 16th 1995 the company was registered under the name Zawierciańska FABRYKA MASZYN ZAFAMA Spółka z o.o. Zawiercie ul. Paderewskiego 32 and Zakłady Mechaniczne BUMAR-ŁABĘDY S.A in Gliwice became its sole shareholder.

 

The company had three main production divisions:

  • large-sized slewing rings division
  • welding and assembling division
  • precise casting division

 

In the years from 2000 to 2009 the copmany underwent a restructuring process which resulted in the closedown of the precise casting division and the development of the production of large-sized bearings. At present, the production process of our compnay takes place in the division of mechanics and costruction.

In 2009 after the recertification audit the company receieved a Qaulity Management System Certificate EN ISO 9001:2008 from TUV NORD

From July 29th 2011 the company operated as a division and then as a branch of Zakłady Mechaniczne "BUMAR-ŁABEDY" S.A.

In June 28th 2013  FERRO-SYSTEM  acquired 100% of the capital of FABRYKA MASZYN ZAFAMA from BUMAR-ŁABĘDY S.A. z siedzibą w Gliwicach

In August 1th 2014 - creating a Limited Partnership - change company name to Z.F.M SP. z o.o. ZAFAMA LIMITED PARTNERSHIP, ul. I. Paderewski 12B, 42-400 Zawiercie
